Just want to inform you that in the last time I noticed several times,
that some notification emails (about posts in threads, or new pms)
were rejected by the receiving mail-system (mainly gmail and uni-kassel).
Gmail states in the rejection that it considers it to be spam (though typically spam is not rejected but put in the spam folder in gmail).
I just want you to know that - in case you wondered why you did not get a notification about some action
and encourage you to rather check your pm and threads periodically for news.
I could not yet determine a pattern, when this happens, seems rather random.
It might have to do with SPF and DKIM.
I created an SPF record, but that didnt seem to help.
Maybe I will find a way to apply DKIM signing when the forum sends out e-mail but I am not there yet.
FYI

Ah, my account at uni-kassel has been dropped since my retirement. I should have managed my user-profile...
Thanks for notification -

I guess I'm old school, because I check this forum solely off a willful desire where I type it in and come here. I forgot you could sign up for updates.
Could this be in any way shape or form based off the privacy laws and regulations recently enacted on Big Tech in the European Union. I've heard small things about how it's a bit of a logistical nightmare. And google has to jump through hoops now dealing with traffic. I've noticed this with other European Union sites, but only in small weird ways.
Not to sound like a conspiracy nut, just curious....

Hi James,
the option for email-information when new input occurs is of course the baseline.
But in this case it is only, that the university didn't prolongue my account since I'm retired in 2018 and they kept it working only for the time-period when a student might be inquiring something related to an exam or so. But that period is 3 years after exam, and I do not give optional lectures so they have no reason to keep my account alive. The account-remove happened then this month June, and I simply forgot to inform tetration.org for the change-of-email - so no conspiracy around... ( to our all disappointment...
perhaps... )
Kind regards -
Gottfried
Upps: oh well - just saw that gmail was mentioned by Henryk, so your question/considerations might still be open for this second mention, sorry if my own explanation was waste...

Actually it is not that dramatic. I took a closer look:
There were 4 addresses, where e-mail was bouncing.
Two of them said: "#5.1.0 Address rejected", one of those was Gottfrieds address.
The other two were gmail addresses and one of these addresses was mine.
The message here was:
Quote:host gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com[142.250.145.26]
said: 550-5.7.1 [109.237.142.242 12] Our system has detected that this

v7-20020a056402348700b0042e0fd0b064si27232652edc.264 - gsmtp (in reply to
end of DATA command)
But indeed after I added the SPF entry for eretrandre.org I did not get any of these rejections anymore.
(Funnily enough I received the "undelivered mail return to sender" e-mail but the original email it was referring to, the "unsolicited mail", could not be delivered
)
