Hi, historical users of the forum and new members.

I hope this message finds you well! We wanted to share some updates regarding the Tetration Forum and the Hyperoperations Wiki.

The first achievement.
The impending goal to keep the posts in the forum preserved as an archive, ideally forever, seems to be secured.

Goal 1 - A Minimal Set of Rules for New Posts

The current plan is to minimally restore the Tetration Forum to at least its previous state, considering the limited time Tetration Forum Board members have available. The Board would also like to be a bit stricter with moderation: Right now, we have a few essential rules we propose to new users.

Quote:1) Be clear and kind in your interactions: this includes
Defining your terms and explaining obscure terminology.
Using standard notation for clarity.
Maintaining a polite and courteous tone in discussions.

2) Value other members' time and efforts: i.e.
Showing that you've done your research and attempted to solve the problem.
Demonstrating your efforts and sharing any progress you've made.

In the near future, we’d like to ask new users to introduce themselves in the community section, if that seems reasonable. We'll try to apply these rules in good faith, but since these are rather lax and reasonable rules we want to enforce where needed, at least on the new posts. We won't apply those rules to editing or deleting old posts.

Goal 2 - On the Wiki

I, MphLee, am personally also working on reorganizing the goals of the Hyperoperations Wiki. We'd like it to be more strictly moderated than the forum, so only a few acknowledged forum users will be able to edit the wiki. I’ll be building and proposing some mandatory guidelines for that. I know it might be a challenge to get people actively participating in the forum, let alone contributing to the wiki, but since I want to invest some energy into it, I’d like to shield it from vandalism and ensure methodological consistency.

Here is the new Hyperoperations Wiki homepage.

I have some philosophical guidelines, and I want to create something that interpolates the nLab success with the "essentiality" of ProofWiki.

Beyond

Lastly, once the Board has most of this settled, we plan to create an official Discord server and start promoting it in other math communities. The idea is to have a space for community discussions, informal communication, and socializing. The forum will be for more formalized article discussions, article presentations, permanent archival of ideas, and discussion about the editing of the wiki.

The Discord will serve as the first filter to the forum, and

The Tetration Forum will naturally filter users to the wiki as editors.

The Hyperoperations Wiki will be the place where distilled and tested knowledge with references gets recorded, ready to be used for new research.

YELLOW ALERT : login issues

Hello all.

I was unable to login or even just look at this website (most of the time) for about 2 months !!?!!

The issue was " certificate no longer valid "

I am using a relatively secure private VPN to get here and now it finally worked.

I was also unable to contact any of you guys.

Apparantly other social media attempts for contact also failed and I was even removed as contact.

I hope everything is fixed now.
And I hope this never happens again.

I could also not reach matheretrandre.

It seems the domainname is now changed ?

Maybe some guys were on holiday or sick, or maybe it had to do with the new laws or a new domainname.

I see little activity in the last 2 months so maybe I was not alone !!??

My question is this "What are our collective needs for managing references?" Galadikis's website has a nice set of references and many of us have curated our own lists. I have access to different lists folks have sent me. What are some "use cases" for needing a reference list? Let's say we create a master list on tetration, hyperoperators and complex dynamics. What information do we want to capture. Galadikis has commented on a number of his references which I really appreciate. Support for Unicode for other languages as well as English would be good.

Howdy,
Bo and I met a second time today while Bo showed me how to upgrade myBB to the current version. I believe I have a fix so MathJax loads automatically. Using Firefox I was able to delete the Tetration Forum's cookies which got the MathJax running. Please let me know what \(\LaTeX\) problems folks have and I will work on straightening them out. Please include a link to a page with the problem so I can test the wanted fix. Thanks

Hey all,

in collaboration with Daniel, we moved the forum from math.eretrandre.org/tetrationforum to tetrationforum.org.
Things are not yet perfect, I am fixing some minor bugs, but you should be able to use the forum and the wiki already.
(Particularly older posts that use mimetex will not display correctly yet)
Please report any oddities you encounter here in this thread (or - if you can't login - to tetrationforum (at) gmail.com).

Cheers,
