Perhaps gamma function is not the right one to generalize factorials to imaginary numbers.

It is the best way to do it.

I think it depends on what we want to use it for.

Gottfried myself and many others have considered many alternatives.

Ofcourse it also depends if an asymptotic satisfies.
Or a similar ( asymptotic) functional equation.
